Moses Takes a Dip!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAfter 11 days of being dry-docked, it was time for water for Moses! Due to the severity of the fracture from a boat, the lung had been punctured and putting the turtle in water right away would have been deadly. After wound care, daily bandage changes, and the use of steal plates to hold the split together, tissue formed in the crack and the lung repaired itself.

Bette and Sherri use dental acrylic to attach steal plates to stabilized the fracture.

Sea turtles need to be in water to eat and we knew that Moses must be hungry! The protein from his food would certainly help his wounds heal faster too. We put him out in hospital tank next to all of our other patients and he started to eat squid right away! Stay tuned for more updates on his progress!
