Two Opportunities to Join us for a Public Release on Saturday 9/29

First up, in Marathon- Cafecito at Sombrero Beach at 10 am

Cafecito – a 160 pound adult male loggerhead sea turtle was rescued with help from the USCG Marathon Station in early August.  Cafecito suffered from an intestinal impaction.  Cafecito was treated at the Turtle Hospital with lactulose, fluids, broad spectrum antibiotics, vitamins and a healthy diet of fish and squid.  The public is invited to join us on Saturday, September 29th at Sombrero Beach in Marathon as we return Cafecito to his ocean home!  We will arrive in the Turtle Hospital ambulance at 9:30 a.m. with release promptly at 10:00 a.m.

Then in the afternoon, in Key West- Buddy at Higgs Beach behind Salute Restaurant at 1 pm

Buddy – a 170 pound adult female loggerhead sea turtle was rescued off the lower keys late July.  Buddy was treated at the Turtle Hospital for a severe intestinal impaction and lung infection.  Buddy’s treatment included IV nutrition, lactulose, fluids, broad spectrum antibiotics, vitamins and a healthy diet of fish and squid.  Join us on Higg’s Beach in Key West, behind Salute restaurant Saturday, September 29th to help us cheer Buddy on as she returns to her ocean home!  We will arrive in the Turtle Hospital ambulance at 12:30 p.m. with release promptly at 1:00 p.m.
