Join us Saturday February 4th to release Agape at Sombrero Beach at 9:30 am!
Love is in the air…Agape, a sub-adult loggerhead sea turtle is being returned to her ocean home! Join us for a Public Sea Turtle Release this Saturday, February 4th on Sombrero Beach in Marathon. Agape was rescued in December off of La Siesta resort in Islamorada. A couple on their honeymoon rescued the sea turtle the found floating and unable to dive. They named the turtle “Agape” the ancient Greek name for Love: the highest form of love. Agape had an intestinal impaction and low blood values. Treatment at the Turtle Hospital included broad spectrum antibiotics, lactulose, vitamins and a healthy diet. Agape is back in good health, feisty and ready to go home. The Turtle Hospital ambulance will arrive with Agape at Sombrero Beach at 9:30 a.m. with release promptly at 10:00 a.m. Bring your family and your friends to help us celebrate “the highest form of love”, returning this magnificent animal to her ocean home!
